Always on the side of the egg.
One of the most impactful readings this year was a speech by Haruki Murakami. His speech was very inspiring to me because it taught me each of us all have a wall that prevent us from going foward. If we break this wall, then we will be able to go over the wall and break our limits. Haruki tells us that this wall is a System, which is meant to protect us, but eventually it begins to kill us. When I first read this, I instantly thought that the system was referring to machines and robots. It made sense, as machines were created to be beneficial to us, but can also be very disadvantageous to us as well.
Haurki states, “Take a moment to think about this. Each of us possesses a tangible, living soul. The System has no such thing. We must not allow The System to exploit us. We must not allow The System to take on a life of its own. The System did not make us: We made The System” These lines really impacted me, as they are very true in our society. Even we might think that machines are greater than us, smarter than us, and more hardworking then us, we always have to remember, “The System did not make us: We made The System.” We will always have things that no machine will be able to have, a brain.
